Padmasambhava departs his father's kingdom as a wandering ascetic

The Lotus-Born prince receives Princess Bhasadhara of Simhapura as his bride. Throughout the land he is loved and held in awe for his beauty and brilliance.

Five years pass until one day the Buddha Vajrasattva manifests before him and reminds him of his purpose in life.

The prince realizes that ruling the kingdom was not the purpose he was born to serve. Leaving behind his family and his father's kingdom, he renounces his worldly life. Assuming the guise of a wandering ascetic, the Uddiyanan prince sets off from his kingdom in the southern direction.
