The Buddha
The Mural Path

A Brief Journey through his Life

Siddhartha Gautama was a 6th-century prince from the Shakya clan who, after attaining enlightenment at age 35, became known as the Buddha, meaning "The Awakened One" or “The Enlightened One". Born in Lumbini (modern Nepal), he gave up royal luxury to seek liberation from suffering. He is also known as Shakyamuni ("Sage of the Shakyas") and Tathagata ("One who has thus come and gone").

What follows is a journey through twenty-five mural panels.
